Monday, March 20, 2017

MONDAY, MARCH 20th

10:00 AM – StorytimeTerrific 2’s and 3’s – For children from 18 to 36 months, with a caregiver. Come in and hear a story, sing a song and have some fun!

12:15 PM – Mah Jongg – Get together for the ever challenging game of Mah Jongg!

4:30 PM – Kids’ Yoga – Learn yoga poses and breathing techniques in these free 45-minute classes taught by a certified instructor from Water and Rock Studio. For children ages 6 to 9. Drop in to whatever class you are able. No registration required. Supports PA Forward's Health Literacy.

7:00 PM – Socrates’ Café – Join in the conversation, be it political, religious or whatever comes to mind. Share your thoughts, experiences and viewpoints while meeting new people.

TUESDAY, MARCH 21st

10:00 AM – Storytime – Playful Pre-School – For children ages 3 and up with a caregiver. Join us for stories, songs, rhymes, and fun!

3:30 PM – 5:30 PM – Teen Time – Teens are invited to hang out, play games, answer trivia, and eat snacks! It's Brain Awareness Week! Learn all about this remarkable organ from Professor Al Lamperti. No registration required. Regular teen time activities will follow the brain activity.

7:00 PM – Essential Oils – Dealing with allergies or anxiety? Learn all the ways you can use essential oils to support wellness. Make your own rollerball of essential oil blends for $5. Registration is required; please call the library to sign up. Supports PA Forward's Health Literacy.

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 22nd

12:15 PM – Mah Jongg – Get together for the ever challenging game of Mah Jongg!

3:30 – 5:00 PM – Lego Club – For children ages 4 and up, caregiver must be present. Come in and build your creation from our collection of Legos! We will display it on our shelves!

4:30 PM – How It Works: Fairy Tales & Fables – Hear a fable, conduct an egg experiment, make unbreakable bubbles, and build a bridge for the Three Billy Goats Gruff! This monthly program will explore different science and history topics with activities, games, and books. Suggested for children in grades K to 4. No registration required. As part of the Longwood Gardens Community Read program, we are giving away free passes to Longwood Gardens to two participants at each How It Works program from now through May in honor of one of the community read choices, The Way Things Work Now by David Macaulay. All attendees will be put into a raffle to determine who wins the passes.

6:30 PM – Knit Night – Join the knitting group at the library for knitting, crocheting, and conversation.

THURSDAY, MARCH 23rd

10:00 AM – Storytime – Wonderful 1’s – For children from birth to 24 months and caregiver. Stories, music and fun!

12:15 PM – Mah Jongg – Join in on the challenging game of Mah Jongg!

6:00 – 8:00 PM – Teen Drop-in – Teens in grades 6 to 12 are welcome to drop in at the library on Thursday evenings to hang out with other teens and play games.

7:00 PM – Travel Talk: You Wouldn’t Want to Travel with William Penn! – Reference librarian Ed Thompson will bring to life how people traveled back in the days of William Penn. Join us for this fun and informative event! …Like travel? This complementary talk is in coordination with a One Author, One County event presented by Montgomery County Libraries Sunday, March 26 with travel author Rick Steves. Tickets can be purchased directly through the Keswick Theatre.

7:00 PM – Adult Book Club – New members are always welcome! For more information, call the library at 215-836-5300. March 2017's book selection is "Everything I Never Told You" by Celeste Ng. We will meet at the library on March 23rd. Grab a copy and come in to discuss!

FRIDAY, MARCH 24th

10:00 AM – 4:00 PM – Duplo Play Day – Drop in to build with our collection of Duplos! Recommended for ages 2 and up.

1:30 PM – 3:30 PM – Bridge – Play the challenging card game of bridge at the library.

2:00 PM – Movie MatineeWild Oats – Shirley MacLaine and Jessica Lange star as two friends who decided to enjoy a windfall, even if it's an error in zeros!! Not $50,000 but $5,000,000 is the check that the life insurance company sends, and the fun begins!! Rated PG-13.

SATURDAY, MARCH 25thLibrary hours 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM

11:00 AM – Tech Talks: E-Resources at Your Library, Part 2: Languages, Research, and Resources for Kids/Teens – Discover a world of resources available at your fingertips, including free e-books, magazines, and research and database access, all on the library’s website. Join Reference Librarian Stephanie for part 2 of this three-part series that will cover resources such as Mango, Ask Here PA, Explora, Tumblebooks, and POWER Library.

SUNDAY, MARCH 26thLibrary hours 1:00 PM4:00 PM

1:30 PM – Scrabble Group – Drop in to play the fun and challenging word game of Scrabble!
